FAU Hosts Successful Virtual Event to Talk About Life Beyond the Ph.D.

More than 80 people from at least four different universities joined FAU’s panel discussion called Beyond the Ph.D., to talk about what it means to be a postdoctoral fellow.

Ken Dawson-Scully, Ph.D., a professor in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and current postdoc mentor, was the keynote speaker for the two-hour, virtual event, co-hosted by FAU’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Graduate College. Dawson-Scully talked about his postdoctoral experience, offering insight into the research enterprise, tips for navigating the postdoctoral application and the interview process.

The panel consisted of current FAU postdoctoral researchers from various disciplines and backgrounds, sharing their stories, including why they chose to become a postdoc and key perceptions of their specific career choice.
